Watchlists were the most-used surface on 5Trade — and also the slowest. We rebuilt the engine from the data layer up so the experience matches the speed of the markets it tracks.
What changed under the hood
Every watchlist row is now driven by the same WebSocket pipeline that powers the order ticket. There is no more polling fallback, no debounce delay, and no slow-row rendering when one symbol gets noisy.
- Per-row updates render in under 16ms regardless of list length.
- Heavy lists (200+ symbols) no longer block scroll or chart switches.
- The same feed updates the options chain, so cross-surface state stays consistent.
New surface-level capabilities
The redesign is not just a performance refit — there are real workflow upgrades you will notice immediately.
- Inline mini-charts with a click-to-expand to full chart.
- Sort by intraday momentum, relative volume, or sector heat.
- Pin a watchlist to the order ticket so context follows you across surfaces.
Migration is automatic
All your existing watchlists are already on the new engine — no opt-in required, no preferences to copy over. If you ran into freezes during the open, you should notice the difference on day one.
